Gertrudis Raffalli

A woman of incredible talent, Gertrudis Raffalli has been working with clay her entire life. Of Venezuelan origin, Raffalli comes from a country in constant economic and political turmoil. Through the simplified anatomical forms her bronze and terracotta figures express intensity and emotion. Yet her work is serene and emits a sensation of peace and tranquility. Often depicting families and working with instinctual precision, her work becomes the vehicle for intense personal expression. Her larger pieces (life size figures) are often in bright colored finishes, incorporating an additional element of passion to her work.

Raffalli's work is part of many private and corporate collections in the US and Venezuela. She lives and works in Caracas, surrounded by her extended family, her birds and her lush, tropical gardens.
